David Guetta & Bebe Rexha – I’m Good (Blue) [Lyric Video]
In August 2022, David Guetta and Bebe Rexha finally released their highly anticipated collaboration after five years of it first being premiered. I knew there was going to be a lot of hype for the release of this song, so I wanted to make a lyric video with some nice looking visuals. My end goal of this project was to make the final product as professional looking as I could.
Project Breakdown
I decided to start off by making a background animation. So, using a combination of the Fractal Noise, Colorama, and CC Plastic effects in Adobe After Effects that I learnt at University, I was able to create an intriguing looking moving background that fit the theme that I was going for very well. The way I made the background movable was by animating the evolution of the Fractal Noise effect over time. In addition, I used Photoshop to modify an image of each artist, mask them out of the background behind them, add an opacity gradient and made the image blue, all to fit them in with the background. Then, again using Photoshop, I masked out the text of the song’s cover art to put in the top centre of my video.
It was then time to add the text into my video. After some playing around with the font and colour, I found something I was happy with. After this, I started adding in the text word-by-word and timed it correctly to the music. This did take me a while, especially as this was my first time making a lyric video, but I found that trial and error was the best approach for this. The video was mostly done after this, but I wanted to do something a bit more with it. So for the drop of the song, I animated both the brightness and contrast to subtly increase and decrease on each beat, creating a pulsating effect. One last thing I did was speed up the evolution of the Fractal Noise animation for the drop to make the background move faster, this resulted in an animation which matches the energy of the drop.
